Sandler offers many PDF documents available for downloading in our LMS. These PDF documents have variable levels of security placed on the based on the type of document, use case for the document and when the document was created.
Security Features available for PDF:
- Restrict Editing
- Restrict Copying/Form Filling
- Restrict Printing
In years passed, to protect our Intellectual Property, Sandler had a blanket policy to employ the highest level of restrictions on PDF documents which restricted editing, did not have form fields, allowing for copying or printing, essentially offering a view only experience. The way to get these documents, was the purchase them from Sandler and have them shipped to a local training center or client location.
As our business and learning as an industry has shifted to respond to be more integrated into virtual, self-paced, distance learning we have made our electronic documents more user-friendly acknowledging this as an acceptable trade off in IP protection.
When we now produce PDF workbooks for NEW products, we still restrict editing, but allow for home printing and take advantage of interactive features like form filling or bookmarks.
However, we have not gone back to change the security permissions on older documents and workbooks. As we touch and update materials, we will be applying our new standards to allow for printing. If you find a document you would like to print and no option to order a print version is available that request can and should be escalated to the product team for review.
