ILT and VILT are acronyms for Instructor-Led Training and Virtual Instructor-Led Training.
- ILT is in-person training that is facilitated by an instructor at a scheduled time and location, often in a classroom setting.
- VILT is like ILT, but it happens remotely (i.e., online only).
Both ILT and VILT are different from eLearning and digital learning courses, which are on-demand and can be accessed at any time or place. The truth is both modalities are excellent choices and beneficial to create engaging training programs, but the modality choice(s) should always be based on continued evaluation of the needs of the organization as well as the adaptation of how the content will best be absorbed/adopted. Your decision may actually include a blended-learning approach that combines ILT, VILT, associated guides or handouts, and eLearning courses.
PURPOSE: Admins can use this guide to learn how to create your own VILT or ILT course and offerings.
STEP 1: Click the Admin tab and select the Learning Navigator option from the menu displayed.
IMPORTANT: Franchise Admins should create their own offerings in the Local Content within the Scheduled Content folder. You can use the ILT/VILT offerings in the Central Course Library as a template to create your own. To view these examples:
- Navigate to the core ILT/VILT content by clicking the
icon next to each item in the following path: Central Course Library -> Production -> Current -> Scheduled Courses.
-
Click the
icon next to either the Instructor Led Training (ILT)(44649339) item or the Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)(44649340) to view the core courses you can use as a template. For example, you can create your own Sales Mastery VILT based on the core content and create your own offerings.
STEP 2: To preview the configuration of a core offering to use as a template to create your own offering, click on one of the ILT or VILT subfolders and locate a content offering that is similar to the course you want to offer. Click the item to preview the configuration in the panel on the right.
STEP 3: Navigate to your own Scheduled Content folder in your Local Content folder by clicking the icon next to each item in the following path: Franchise -> Your Client Name -> Local Content -> Scheduled Content.
STEP 4: Click the Scheduled Content folder. In the preview on the right, click the icon and select the Add Content Object option from the menu displayed.
STEP 5: Adjust the properties for your course and click the Create button at the bottom of the right panel.
NOTE: If this is for a VILT class offering, make sure to select the Virtual Class option in the Content Type field.
STEP 6: Once your content object is created, click the icon and select either the Create Classroom Offering or Create Virtual Class Offering options to begin configuring your own ILT or VILT classroom offerings for your new course.
