| Content Types | Explanation |
| Admin Activity | These are object types with an offering so a Learner can be enrolled directly but is unable to play or complete. Admin will play the content to mark it complete. Object Types are typically setup with a parent object (content type = Manager Activity, Instructor Activity, or Admin Activity) and a child object (often a Test or survey object with questions). It is not a requirement however that they are child objects, if the activity itself is a launchable piece of content, like a PDF or SCORM compliant piece of content. |
| Assignment Module | An Assignment Module Object is a single instance of an assignment, tied to submission dates. Allows assignments to be created, students to upload work, assignments to be graded and results communicated. |
| Assessment Group | Operations (as in operational assessments) can roll up to an Assessment group. Assessment Groups can be completed by operation offerings. |
| Bundle | eCommerce related, multiple related Courses offered in grouping for a discounted price. Bundle components are configured in the object properties of a Bundle object in Learning Navigator. A Bundle consists of a group of courses offered through one purchase at a ‘Bundle Discount’ price. |
| CE Competency | CE Competencies are grouped together to create a Competency Set under a folder. Although it is good to have them all together under the CE Competency Set folder, CE Competencies can be anywhere within your site. A competency set is a series of competency objects grouped together into a single folder. This creates a relationship between the objects, and can prevent the Learner from attaining points in a completely unrelated competency when additional points are required. CE Competencies can be something that is achieved via an outside system e.g. Kaplan, or a site-specific construct. |
| CE Qualification | This object is used to create a training plan. An offering is created against this object to enroll Learners and connect them to the Training Plan. |
| CE Set Additional | CE Set Additional type is set where an additional number of points need to be attained above what is specified by the specific competencies. These points could come from any competency within the Set, and may include the Competencies already listed. Additional points cannot be attained by Competencies outside those Competency sets already listed in the plan. It is used in conjunction with the content type CE Total. CE Set Additional content types are published but not offered. |
| CE Total | CE Total is used to enter or calculate the total number of points required overall for a Training Plan. CE Total is used to enter or calculate the total number of points required overall for a Training Plan. If the CE Total type is left blank, it will automatically calculate the total required points from all required competencies. If points are entered, there is no calculation. For example, a plan might have 2 competencies with a target of 5 points each. Setting the CE Total of 20 points would mean that the User would have to attain an additional 10 points. Leaving the CE Total blank would mean that the User would have to attain only 10 points altogether. |
| Classroom | Classroom objects enable the delivery of scheduled courses delivered in a classroom. Classroom objects are delivered in the form of Classroom offerings and are accessed by Learners via an Enroll button. Offerings of Classroom objects can be configured with dates, locations, Instructors and other resources associated with classroom training. |
| Curriculum | Multiple courses, usually related to a Job Role and set of course toward Certification. Viewable content, online in a browser |
| Digital Signature | Enables use of Digital Signature for sign off of Assessments by Managers and Instructors (and occasionally Learners) |
| Document | Licenses or Medical Certification Content. Provides a means of recording licenses and medical certificates, and then tracking their expiry and renewal thresholds. The licenses and medical certificates are called Documents. Examples of Documents are User’s Driver's License, First Aid Certificate. The documents are first created in the LMS with a set of 'Rules" that determine what fields are relevant for this particular document. For example a drivers license requires a completed date and an expiry date. These would be mandatory fields. The alternatives are Optional or N/A (Not Applicable). |
| Instructor Activity | These are object types with an offering so a Learner can be enrolled directly but is unable to play or complete. Instructor will play the content to mark it complete. |
| Instructor Assessment | Instructor Assessments do not have offerings or enrolments. These are activities which the Learner does not complete in the system; rather, the instructor observes a task or behavior in the classroom or in the workplace and records completion of that observation in the system. Instructor assessments are set up as content objects in the system but are not offered, and there are no enrolment conditions. Typically, they are added to learning paths to be completed as part of a structured program. They cannot be part of a Learning Track. |
| Manager Activity | These are object types with an offering so a Learner can be enrolled directly but is unable to play or complete. Manager will play the content to mark it complete. |
| Manager Assessment | A Manager Assessment is added to a Learning Path to enable a Manager to mark a Learner complete for an observed performance. This type of Learning is typically On-the-Job-Training (OJT). The Manager observes the Learner perform tasks or processes and records success or failure against the Instructor Assessment object. |
| Online | Online objects enable what is commonly referred to as eLearning or self-paced learning. Content of this type is usually started and completed by a Learner at their own pace. You can define an ‘Enrollment Period’ and ‘Target Completion Days’ for Online courses. Unique to Online objects is the concept of Tracking Type. Tracking type governs how the system receives information from the content about the Learner’s progress and performance when they play the course. Tracking Type is covered in more detail in the Manage Online Learning lesson. |
| Operation | Operation is the content object type of Operational Assessments. Operational Assessments are a way of tracking which s are qualified to do what (operate equipment or follow a process), where (on which site or aircraft) and at what level (Competency)There are a number of components to an Operational Assessment. Content Object Type = Operation “Offerings” are created as Operational Assessments. |
| Qualification | A Qualification object enables configuration of certifications that have an expiration period and need to be repeated. The Qualification Object can be configured to govern how long after enrolment a Learner has to complete a qualification, how long the qualification is valid and how soon before expiration the Learner will be notified that they need to repeat the course. Qualification Objects are used to track training statuses that have an expiry period and need to be repeated to maintain the status |
| Resource Availability | A one-time set up object found in the Configuration folder of the Learning navigator. The Resource Availability object is needed if the site will block or reserve Resources for booking. It enables booking Instructors leave time, rooms and locations as unavailable, etc. |
| Survey | iLearning PLUS includes a Survey building interface. Admins can create Surveys in Learning Navigator and deliver them independently or as part of a course. A Survey object enables the delivery of Surveys that are developed in iLearning PLUS. |
| Test | iLearning PLUS provides a tool to build Test Item Banks in Learning Navigator. The test items or questions are added to sections associated with a Test Object and then offered to Learners either as part of a course or curriculum or its own. Tests record Learner responses which are available for review via reports. There are several Test configuration options including randomization of questions, number of allowable attempts, whether feedback appears during or at the end of the test and more. |
| Virtual Class | Virtual Class (VC) objects provide a means to use iLearning PLUS to set up scheduled courses delivered through your Web Conferencing application. Offerings of a VC object create the requisite session details in the Web Conferencing application so that Instructors can start the course and Learners can join the course from their respective interfaces in iLearning PLUS. |
